British-founded curly hair brand created in London by Michele Scott-Lynch, who started Bouclème to make the products she couldn't find for her own curls. Launched in 2015, the range is built on a simple three-step system — cleanse, condition, define — using plant-powered formulas free from sulphates, silicones, parabens, mineral oils, PEGs, and artificial fragrances. All formulations are at least 92% plant-based and biodegradable. Packaging uses a minimum of 30% recycled plastic, and a tree is planted for every standard-size bottle sold through the brand's Trees for Future partnership. Bouclème is black-owned, independently run, and one of the few UK-founded curly hair brands to have built a genuinely global following entirely on product performance. The Curl Cleanser won Best Shampoo for Curly Hair at the Marie Claire Hair Awards 2019; the Intensive Moisture Treatment has been recognised at the Marie Claire, Pure Beauty, and Good Housekeeping awards. The Seal + Shield range (2024) introduced glycerin-free formulations specifically designed for high-humidity and dew-point sensitivity.
